  • Lovely Tickets digistamp from MyGrafico (a freebie)
  • digital paper I made by scanning a larger sheet and printing it much smaller

Shop Small Saturday

Happy Thanksgiving! And a big Thank You to all of you wonderful people who visit my blog and  make writing it so much fun. I know a lot of you are artisans in your own right and I wanted to give us all a plug for the upcoming “Shop Small Saturday”.

Here are some great places to “shop small” and get some of the most amazing hand-made items you could ever want. You are likely to “buy American” at the same time – an added benefit!

EtsyOur mission is to empower people to change the way the global economy works. We see a world in which very-very small businesses have much-much more sway in shaping the economy, local living economies are thriving everywhere, and people value authorship and provenance as much as price and convenience. We are bringing heart to commerce and making the world more fair, more sustainable, and more fun.

Things People Make – A new community where artisans share their fabulous handmade items.

There are probably more places to find handmade items online. These happen to be the ones I’m the most familiar with. I’ve personally bought items from several people on these sites and have never been disappointed. Do you Christmas shopping with some of these small businesses and know that you’ll be proud to gift the items you purchase.

Happy Holidays and thanks for stopping by.

Wedding Card

My niece’s daughter is getting married next month. We won’t be able to attend the wedding and I wanted to make her a special card. The invitation was all black and white, so I decided to use the same colors for her card. This is what I came up with.

I am entering this card into this week’s challenge (#114) at Crazy 4 Challenges: Black, White and WOW! It allows for a third color and I chose silver.

I went through my sketches to find a the right inspiration, knowing I wanted to use the silver peel-off sentiment. I found this sketch from Mojo Monday #191.

As it happens, this sketch was originally posted in May and I did enter a card in that challenge at the time. I guess I really like this sketch.

Supplies used:

  • A7 card blank from Recollections
  • black and white cardstock from my stash
  • Isla Paper Pack from Designer Digitals
  • silver wedding sentiment from my stash
  • black ribbon from Offray
  • white dimensional flower from Recollections
  • black mini gems from Recollections

Thanks for stopping by. Happy crafting.
