Birthday Card with a Bonus

Crazy4Challenges this week asked for “A child’s birthday card” (C4C120). It just so happened that a customer requested a card for her granddaughter’s 14th birthday in March. So this is the card I came up with:

The birthday girl is an avid reader, so I made a bookmark for the front of the card using her initials on the tassels. The bookmark slips out, revealing more flowers on the front of the card.

I added more flowers and some lace to the inside of the card.

I must say that I had a lot of fun making this card (in spite of having to cut out most of the flowers by hand). The end result made it all worthwhile.

Supplies used:

  • 7” by 5” card base cut from cardstock in my stash
  • patterned papers and stickers from “Aunt Gerti’s Garden” from SEI
  • Layered Arches” punch from Martha Stewart
  • lettered hearts that I’ve had in my stash for ages (don’t know who made them)
  • self-laminating pouch from Scotch
  • silver eyelet and brads from my stash
  • computer generated sentiment
  • silver peel-offs from my stash

Thanks for looking in on my work. Happy crafting!

Black & White Thank You Card

I discovered a challenge group this week that I think I will really enjoy. It’s called CAS-ual Fridays, and is dedicated to Clean And Simple designs. This is actually my favorite kind of card to make, so I’m looking forward to doing more of their challenges in the future.

This week, the challenge is to “Create a Clean And Simple Project that is only black and white.” I love black and white anyway, so wanted to give this a shot.

Here’s my card:

I based my card on a sketch provided by “Just Us Girls” a couple of weeks ago. I’m too late to enter it there, but wanted to give credit where it was due. This is the sketch:

Supplies used:

  • A2 card blank from Recollections
  • black cardstock from my stash
  • flowered digital paper from Isla Paper Pack from Designer Digitals
  • polka dot paper from Paper Pizazz
  • Lacy Ovals die from Spellbinders
  • silk flowers from my stash
  • computer generated sentiment
  • black brads from my stash

Thanks for stopping by.

Monochrome Blues

The challenge this week from Crazy 4 Challenges is “Monochrome card in the blues”.

This is my card for the challenge:

The papers are from the “Clarity” Bitty Scrap Pad from Provo Craft which I’ve had around for ages. I used the Quickutz Diamonds and Dots embossing folder on the background paper. The butterfly punch is from Martha Stewart. The gold peel-offs are from my stash.

Thanks for stopping by. Happy crafting!

Clean & Simple #173

This is the sketch from Clean & Simple Stamping for this week:

I took some liberties, and here is the card I came up with:

I went to JoAnn Fabrics this week and bought several items, most of which were used on this card. Here’s my list of supplies used:

OWH #104

This is the sketch from OWH Stars & Stamps for this week:

Here’s the card I made based on this sketch:

This was so much fun to make. Yesterday a card-making buddy brought over papers she was willing to trade for some of mine. So now I have new papers to play with, for just the cost of some old papers I didn’t want anymore anyway.

Last week I learned how to make these triple bows from another card-making buddy. After a lot of practice, I got this one made a couple days ago. Quite by accident it was just the right color to go on this card today.

So all the supplies came from my stash, some new, some old. But what fun!

Thanks for stopping by. Happy crafting!

Added later:

I am also entering this into the Stars & Stamps monthly ODBD challenge for January.

Vintage Birthday Card

I have just finished a card for my BIL’s birthday next month. I am entering it into two challenges.

And this is the card I made:

Supplies used:

  • cream Gemstones Card Stock from Recollections for the card base
  • brown Foundations card stock from Coredinations
  • vintage photographer image found on the web
  • cream fabric ribbon from my stash
  • gold peel-off sentiment from my stash

Thanks for stopping by. Happy crafting!

Card Patterns #148

It’s been a busy week and I’m happy to finally have some time to make cards. This one will be sent to my sister for her birthday next week.

This is the sketch from Card Patterns for this week:

And here is the card I made based on the sketch:

The pink patterned papers are from a scrap pack by Kay that I got quite some time ago. The ribbon is by Offray. The flowers are from my silk flower stash. Everything else is also from my stash.

Thanks for stopping by. Happy crafting!
